| Gary… I’m so excited after reading the preview chapter and can’t wait to buy your book. I plan to buy a bunch to give too my clients as a Christmas present!
I have a situation and hopefully you or others will be able to help me find a solution.
I use to think I had A.D.D. because each month I’ll start/create multiple online/offline businesses. After reading your book, I realize I don’t have A.D.D., I just like starting and creating new businesses just like an individual who loves building model boats or cars as a hobby.
Many of the businesses I start don’t make money because once I’ve built the thing, I’ve generally went on to start something new because of an idea that was sparked after watching something on television, or while walking down the street.
There’s no doubt most of the businesses I start can make money, I just have no interest in running them, or dealing with the day-to-day operations of it. I just like the startup phase of the things and setting things in place. I just really enjoy coming up with the concept, getting it in motion and bam… once I’ve done that, I have no desire to do much more. And I’m totally happy with doing this.
But… in the interim, I need to make a living and I’ve make a significant sum of money building websites and helping other business owners build their businesses to a point where they make a great deal of money! Many of the clients I’ve dealt with have gone from only earning K per month to over K – K monthly… These numbers are consistent across the board — which is why I’m so confident that probably 90% of the businesses I do start for myself can be successful and profitable.
But… while earning a living helping everyone else with their business, I often get board, frustrated and irritated because I’d rather be ‘creating/starting’ my businesses — even though they don’t make money. But I deal with these clients because I gotta eat and support my habit.
Now… here’s my question. What can a guy like me who just simply enjoys the act of starting/creating 10+ businesses each month do to make money with my passion? Keeping in mind that….
1) I have no interest in running/overseeing the business
2) If I have to actually ship or service the customer, it likely won’t get done… because as I mentioned, it irks me and I get a headache when I have to deal with the operation side of things.
3) And quite frankly… starting/creating is the only aspect I really enjoy. I oftentimes find myself getting up at about 8 in the morning to get started and don’t stop until about 3:30 – 4:30 a.m. EVERY NIGHT — half is doing work for my clients, and the other half is working on a new idea.
I always finish setting things up… but once it’s done, I’m off to a new project.
Any advice/help is appreciated… I’d rather be doing this full time but need to make an income. I stress — I have a hard enough time keep up with my clients to the point it stresses me out dealing with deadlines that are set by me (and I often give myself a long deadlines so I can sneak in my own stuff in-between).
I hope this make sense…. I use to think it was A.D.D, but realized I just enjoy doing this with so much passion and there isn’t anything else I’d rather be doing.
