Hello,
glad this Forum exists – here’s a question to you: Gary has two (now even a few more) sites, one under his name and the winelibrary one.
I’m contemplating going the video blog route and wonder if I should start with one site (my name) plus a site of the subject I’ll promote (like winelibrary) or just the subject site, where I’ll be very present anyway. Then I could automatically connect the name-site that I know anyway to this subject-site.
If I open both sites, I wouldn’t quite know where to put what content.
Does anyone else wonder about that question or has taken certain decisions?
Thanks! Etienne

Hi Etienne

We build websites using wordpress and as I mentioned elsewhere we get all our clients to read this book.

The question is what do you do? What is the purpose of yours site?

Gary has one site (Wine LIbrary Blog) which builds his following but doesn’t use it to hard out promote or monetize.

We tell clients is like one is to give credibility and free stuff without the reader/viewer feeling pressured to buy. Then once they know and trust you from your blog they will WANT to buy from you.

So we then have a seperate site that DOES sell stuff and there is a subtle link to it on the blog.

e.g. I have http://www.webchik.net as my blog. I give free tips and tools for everything about getting a website, marketing your website…. and I don’t sell anything!

Where we make money is building Wordpress websites at http://www.bigfishwebsitedesign.com and the only link to it is in the nav. :)

I do free 30 min consults if you want to chat!? :)
